Blue Orchid's Journey

Whew!
I've taken a little break from blogging and Blue Orchid altogether. I was getting a little bogged down with other aspects of my life (as the world turns..lol). I'm back now, re-energized and ready to get back to work. I ordered some new books and cant wait to read them and share my feedback.

My obsession...
While this is not necessarily a new obsession, I have a necessity for To-Do Lists. I have a knack for using them as an organizational tool and to keep my many ideas/tasks on track. I learned a new way to keep a running task list from one of my previous managers. She kept a separate, small book for a running daily list. I can't be nearly that organized, so instead I do a weekly list. I usually keep separate lists for personal, work, and business interests. Hopefully, as I continue on Blue Orchid's journey, these lists will keep me grounded, calm, and organized so that I may reach both long term and short term goals.

First things First...
Happy 4th!
I've decided to start working on a business plan this week so that I can have clear focus and direction. While googling business plan templates, I came across an awesome site that helped me make the notes needed to get started.
Dale Partridge- How to write a killer business plan in one week
The questions on this site have prompted me to thing about my goals and future company's niche. My ideas of how to satisfy a client's needs are now being expressed on paper and not just in my head. I'm focused more on straightforward strategy and not just raw, rambling ideas. Nothing like feeling proud of my baby steps.
Next step: Apply for a business license and figure out marketing strategies.

Blue Orchid Begins...
My name is Jaleesa and I'm an ambitious go -getter. I have a flair for planning and organization and love to see a fully executed event. I've decided, at the tender age of 27 (hehe) to embark on a new journey. After about a year of ideas and dreaming, Blue Orchid Events is actually happening. I have the support of my spouse, my family and friends, and can't wait to make them proud.
I had the awesome idea of blogging through my journey in order to keep track of what works ( and ultimately, what doesn't), and hopefully shed some light on what happens when starting a small business.
I work full time and have little start-up money, so I know the journey will be rough, but with faith and right amount of drive, I know that I can make it and Blue Orchid Events will be a success.
Thanks for embarking on the journey with me...
